In 2015, the Janesville Velo Club joined forces with the Beloit Spinners group in Afton for a combined ride called the Solstice Ride. The annual event stemmed a friendly competition between the two clubs to see who can get the most cyclists riding, with a prestigious traveling trophy on the line. JVC has been outnumbered in recent years, but 2023 is the year to turn the tide!

Here are details for the ride which will occur on Tuesday, June 20:

The ride will start at the former Bass Creek Coffee Shop in beautiful downtown Afton at 6:00pm sharp!
There will be a short and long route offered for slower and faster pace riders, followed by a meal catered by Skip’s Catering Service.

The menu is: Ham & Turkey Croissants, Non-Fart Baked Beans, Fresh Fruit, Broccoli Salad, Cheesy Hasbrowns. Bring a beverage of your choice.

Please RSVP by filling out this Google Form: https://forms.gle/jjDCM7NrjRbTAmWA9 to confirm your attendance and that you will partake in the meal BY THURSDAY, JUNE 15. The cost is $17 per person. Payment can be made ahead of time using Venmo to @Curtis-Sauser (last 4 digits 0227), or by cash or check the night of the event. This is a fun event and an opportunity to meet new riders in our area, exchange cycling “war stories” or talk about past or upcoming cycling trips. Ten (10) JVC riders are needed to substantiate us hiring a caterer for this event. Without 10 JVC participants, the event will be cancelled.

The meal will occur rain or shine. If the ride is rained out, then we will still gather for the meal–if you RSVP’ed that you will attend and then do not show up, you will owe Curt.

Hope to see you for the 2023 Summer Solstice!
