Hello Mountain Bikers,

Thursday (06/03) is the first Thursday of the month.  So if the weather cooperates, we’ll be making our monthly road trip to ride off-road somewhere away from our local trails.  The plan is to ride off-road in Kettle Moraine State Park (east of Whitewater).  If you’re not familiar with Kettle Moraine, you can download a map of the area here.

PLEASE NOTE: A trail pass and parking permit are required to ride in Kettle Moraine.  So if you don’t already have a pass and State Park sticker, then please remember to bring money to pay the required fees.

If you plan to ride with the group, you have a couple of options.  You can be at Michael’s Cycles (and ready to leave) at 5:00pm – OR – you can meet the group in the John Muir parking lot (see map) and be ready to ride by 6:00 pm.  If you are looking to car-pool email me.

We will most likely be splitting into at least two groups (“Race” and “Casual”).  Riders choosing to ride in the “Race” group should keep in mind that they are responsible for themselves and that the group may not stop to regroup or wait for slower riders.  So if you’re planning to participate in the “Race” ride and are unfamiliar with the John Muir trails, you can download a map of the trails here.  Riders choosing to ride in the “Casual” group are expected to keep the group intact.  This means riders in the “Casual” group should occasionally stop and wait for the slowest riders to catch up – OR – be willing to ride the slowest rider’s pace.

The trip will be cancelled if the park hotline says the trails are closed.  The number for the Trail Hotline is (262)-594-6202.

Don’t forget to bring some money for the post-ride refreshments and also to warn your spouse that it may be a little “later-than-normal” Thursday night.

I hope to see you tomorrow!
